Harbor Merging Small Cap Growth Opportunities into Small Cap Growth
Harbor Merging Small Cap Growth Opportunities into Small Cap Growth
April 03, 2020
The Board of Trustees of Harbor Funds has determined that merging the Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund, currently managed by Elk Creek Partners, LLC and the Harbor Small Cap Growth Fund, currently managed by Westfield Capital Management Company, L. P. is in the best interest of Fund shareholders. Harbor’s decision to merge the Funds comes after a sustained period of underperformance in the Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund that Harbor believes is unlikely to improve under its current management. Given these concerns and issues, the ability to scale the Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund has been difficult and merging into the Harbor Small Cap Growth Fund is best for clients and shareholders.
Harbor Capital has a high level of confidence with Westfield, and believes they have an edge based on their high-quality investment team, consistency of investment approach, and strong culture.
For information regarding estimated distributions as a result of the merger please view our Harbor Small Cap Growth Opportunities Fund Distribution Estimates.
The merger is expected to take place on or around May 15, 2020. If you wish to become a shareholder of the Harbor Small Cap Growth Fund, no action is required.
